Sugar is seen lying infront of the Forge as a car drives up and Proctor exits to talk with Sugar. Proctor tells Sugar that Fred called and informed him Sugar was getting rowdy and Sugar doesn't deny it. Proctor goes on to mention that Sugar hasn't been to his job at the Mill for three days and Sugar claims Proctor is not his boss. Proctor explains he would have fired him yesterday and Sugar tells him that his job is demeaning and at the same time he can't go back to prison. Sugar says he wants to work for himself, no one else, but knows that can't happen since he is an ex-con. Proctor offers him a ride home put Sugar claims he needs the exercise and walks away. Proctor then enters the Forge and opens the discussion about Fred's retirement.
