Clay Burton is the personal assistant and bodyguard for Kai Proctor.

Despite his small stature and that he comes across as a quiet person, Burton displays sheer ruthlessness as seen in "Meet the New Boss" where he heads into the trailer of an MMA fighter who was arrested for rape and confronts the MMA fighter's manager where it's implied that he tortures the man.

Personality[]

Nothing is known about Burton's life before he met Proctor except he once tried to save his father from drowning and that his father never forgave him for that. He was being tortured by the cult he grew up in and Proctor saved him. He has scars on his back from the torture he suffered and also it seems that his penis and testicles were also cut off making him a eunuch. As a result, he is highly loyal and is willing to do anything to help and protect Kai or carry out his orders.

He seems detached, calm and polite on the outside, but in some cases he expresses his feelings like rage, when he found out that Rebecca was disobeying her uncle. <SPOILER>This eventually caused him to take matters into his own hands and kill Rebecca because he thought she was becoming a burden to her uncle.

Skills[]

Burton is an expert fighter. He is a highly skilled marksman and proficiently wields a variety of weapons.

He is an adept killer and uses both knives and a garrote to quickly kill enemies. He also displays great skill and knowledge in tracking opponents and disposing of their bodies and remains, leaving almost no trace of their existence at the scene. Kai Proctor usually has him deal with the business-related killing and intimidation. Proctor handles the more personal issues himself.

Burton is a dexterous hand-to-hand fighter, along with his acumen using knives and other weapons. Despite his small size, he can kill multiple people with ease. He is able to ignore devastating injuries and keep fighting regardless of the pain inflicted to him by his enemies, as evident from his fight with Nola Longshadow. After his victory, he stitched his own wounds. He has a ritual of removing his glasses when the situation is serious.

Behind the scenes[]

Clay Burton is a recurring character in the first, second, third season and is promoted to a major character in the fourth season. He is played by starring cast member Matthew Rauch.
